July 6, 2021 - More neighborhood streets could soon see improvements as Council considers awarding contracts for three more projects. Included in the projects is Johnson Avenue between Fairmount Street and Gayman Avenue; West 54th Street between Davie Street and North Howell Street; and Hoover Road from Appomattox Road east approximately 350 feet, Appomattox Road between West 63rd Street and Hoover Road, and North Ripley Street from West 61st Street to West 65th Street.

Repairs to the Sunderbruch Trail could soon be underway with Council approving the contract to Valley Construction Company of Rock Island, Illinois. Although this hidden gem in the west end of Davenport will be busy with construction this summer as the bridge over Black Hawk Creek is currently closed for foundation work, the park is still open and can be accessed by taking Rockingham Road to Ricker Hill Road.

The new Fire Station 3 project will move forward with Council awarding the contract for architectural and engineering services to OPN Architects of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The City issued and sent a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) on April 26, 2021 to architectural and engineering firms. On May 28, 2021, the Purchasing Division opened and announced twelve proposals. After extensive review, the City interviewed four firms and chose OPN Architects due to their focus on civic construction projects, including the completion of several fire station designs in Iowa and the Midwest.
