The sanitary sewer manholes rehabilitation and replacement program is focused on removing stormwater inflow/infiltration into the sanitary sewer via sanitary sewer manholes.
Manholes selected for rehabilitation or replacement under the program, are selected based on identified deficiencies and manholes that have “pick” holes in the cover. In some locations rehabilitation activities may be a simple as replacing the manhole cover, while others may require a new frame, lining cracked joints, or total replacement.
The program helps to reduce the amount of stormwater run-off infiltrating the sanitary sewer, helps to restore the city’s overall sanitary sewer system capacity, and decreases sanitary sewer flows going to the Water Pollution Control Plant.
As with all planned sewer maintenance activities, affected property owners are notified when this activity is conducted.
