02.15.25, 7:00 a.m.
Did we mention changing forecast? Crews have finished clearing Posted Snow Routes. The team will be called back in should snow arrive. Currently there is a chance to slight chance the area could pick up another ½” to 1 ½” of snow.
02.14.25, 8:00 p.m.
Crews began responding to the quick burst of significant snowfall that came through earlier and will continue to clear Posted Snow Routes until clear later this evening. The systems coming through have been erratic. Watch for more snow on Saturday. The timing and amounts are less confident. Take it slow if you are out and about.
02.14.25, 2:30 p.m.
Our partners at the National Weather Service tell us the area could potentially see 1/2” of snow yet today and 2” beginning around the lunch hour and lasting through Saturday evening. Stay tuned for updates. Crews are prepared to respond as needed to arriving conditions.
02.13.25, 6:00 p.m.
Crews will finish making a pass on all residential roads shortly and will begin running all routes to spot clear and touch up all roads as needed before more snow arrives on Friday. With the next system, our partners @NWS predict the area will see spotty periods of snow bringing up to two inches beginning around 5 p.m., Friday, February 14, through Saturday evening. Remember to drive slow when there is ice and snow.
02.13.25, 5:30 a.m.
Yesterday brought periods of heavy snow in the morning and evening. Crews will finish up Posted Snow Routes early this morning and should fully transition to residential roads by mid-morning. Early challenge today: sub-zero temperatures with windchill. As the sun comes out and temperatures improve, melting will follow.
Here’s what you need to know as we head into the day:
- The Snow Emergency will be expired at 7 a.m. this morning. Residents and visitors to the Downtown may still park in the city’s ramps for free through 5 p.m., Thursday, February 13.
- Please be patient. A pass will be made on all residential roads today. Do not expect bare pavement. Please park off-street where you can.
- Drive with caution.
- Be prepared for additional rounds of snow beginning Friday afternoon/evening through Saturday. Between the systems, two to three inches of snow is expected.
02.12.25, 4:00 p.m.
Okay, folks, snow did not come in as forecast, but that doesn’t mean we are out of the woods. Another band of snow is setting up as we speak, potentially adding another 1”+? of snow - enough to recreate the sloppy/slick conditions we saw this morning and at mid-day. The plan - maintain Posted Snow Routes until they are clear and snow ends, then begin clearing residential roads. Depending on what we see over the next few hours, crews could be on residential roads by later this evening. The best course of action is to keep vehicles off the street when you can to help crews clear roads safely and efficiently. If you haven’t cleared sidewalks, do it while you can. Keep in mind temps will drop, and another round is forecast for Friday. Please help us help you.
02.12.25, 7:00 a.m.
Crews were called in earlier this morning to respond to arriving snow. Posted Snow Routes are clear at this time but will begin to recover in the next hour when snow picks back up. While forecasted snow accumulations have been reduced to 3 to 5 inches, this remains a long-duration event. Slick conditions are possible throughout the day. Plan ahead and increase your traveling distance if you need to go out. A Snow Emergency goes into effect at 7 a.m. today, Tuesday, February 12, through Noon, Thursday, February 13. Vehicles parked on Posted Snow Routes during the Snow Emergency may be ticketed and towed. Crews will not clear residential roads until the snow ends and Posted Snow Routes are clear. Find more information on parking and other snow tips at www.davenportiowa.com/winter.
02.11.25, 2:00 p.m.
Based on the National Weather Service Forecast forecast for 5 to 7” of snow, a Snow Emergency is declared effective 7 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, through Noon, Thursday, February 13. Parking is prohibited on Posted Snow Routes when a Snow Emergency is in effect. As an alternative to on-street parking in the Downtown, residents and visitors may park for free in any of the City’s parking ramps from 7 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, through 5 p.m., Thursday, February 13.
Here’s what you need to know as we head into Wednesday.
- This will be a long-duration event with periods of heavy snow. Be reminded that crews will continuously plow and salt Posted Snow Routes (major thoroughfares and hills) until clear to the curb before clearing snow from residential roads. Typically, residential response begins six to 12 hours after snow ends, depending on the volume of snow.
- Hazardous travel conditions are likely. Drive according to conditions. Slow down, increase your traveling distance, plan ahead, and add time to your commute. If you don’t need to travel, please don’t.
- Shoveling sidewalks early and often will lighten the load.
- We expect solid waste collection to occur as scheduled.
- CitiBus anticipates running fixed-route service as scheduled. Delays are likely as road conditions deteriorate.
- Call ahead or check the Davenport Park and Recreation and Davenport Library pages if you plan to visit.
We will provide updates on conditions and crew status throughout the event.

Icing on roads made for slick conditions for everyone last night and will continue through the morning. The Snow Team has made its way through the bulk of the city with salt; however, several residential roads and spotty areas of Posted Snow Routes remain untreated. Crews will continue salting Posted Snow Routes and make a pass with salt on all residential roads through the morning. Sun should help with additional melting during the day. Reduce your speed and drive with caution today. Be especially cautious when walking on any untreated surface, such as sidewalks and parking lots.
02.05.25, 8:00 p.m.
Hey folks, if you don’t need to be out - please don’t be out! Watch for updates early Thursday.

01.02.25, 6:00 p.m.
Today’s snow is coming to an end. Pavement temperatures, brine, and salt applications have kept accumulations low on roads. The Snow Team will be out on Posted Snow Routes until the snow ends. Residential road clearing will not occur due to the low volume of accumulating snow. Sun and salt should continue to improve conditions on all streets tomorrow; however, all motorists should be mindful of spotty slick spots. The Snow Team is pre-treating roads today with salt brine in preparation for another light round of snow forecast for Thursday afternoon/evening. Winter is just around the corner, and Davenport is preparing for the season to arrive. Plow blades and spreaders are being installed, training is underway, and our salt supply has been replenished.
As part of winter preparation, the city encourages all residents and visitors to be prepared. This includes signing up for Snow Emergency Alerts. Signing up for alerts is the most reliable way to know when a Snow Emergency has been declared and when parking on posted snow routes is prohibited.
Snow emergencies are declared when the area is expected to receive ice and/or hazardous volumes of snow. Parking is prohibited on Posted Snow Routes when a snow emergency is declared to help Public Works crews ensure the highest traffic volume roads and hills receive priority service, which helps everyone get around when the snow starts to fly.
To avoid a ticket or being towed for parking on a Posted Snow Route during a snow emergency, be in the know – subscribe to receive an alert at www.davenportiowa.com/alertiowa.
