Davenport’s City Council maintained momentum and focus on street and sewer infrastructure with the approval of the FY 2024 budget on March 22, 2023. Approval allocated another $23 million in street and $7.75 million in sewer infrastructure improvements during the 2023/2024 construction season.
Here’s some of the work the public will see in 2023.
- Work on segments 4 and 5 of the E 53rd Street Phase II project will begin soon. Once complete in the fall of 2023, E 53rd St will have been fully reconstructed, widened, added recreational trail, and received utility and stormwater improvements from Brady St to Elmore Circle.
- Central Park and Hickory Grove Rd Intersection Improvements
- Central Park Resurfacing from Brady to Pershing, and Farnam at Central Park Intersection Improvements
- Eastern and Locust Intersection Improvement
- Clark Street Reconstruction between 11th and 13th Streets
- W 36th Street Reconstruction, Division to Pacific Streets
- Mound Street Reconstruction between Locust and Elm Streets
- Waverly Rd Reconstruction from Lincoln to approximately Schuetzen Lane
- Locust St Reconstruction from Marquette to Division
Twelve additional neighborhood streets will see contracted reconstruction, eight other neighborhood streets will have contracted resurfacing performed, and resurfacing will be scheduled for an additional twenty neighborhood streets using in-house resources.
The budget cycle FY23 and FY24, will also pave the way for improvements to five alleys, recreational trail improvements, and significant investment in sewers with the start of the Tremont Street Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Replacement project which will replace significantly aging infrastructure.
