Explorer Program - Police - City of Davenport

The Davenport Police Department Explorer Program is designed to inspire and empower youth through hands-on leadership opportunities. Led by our committed personnel, the program offers participants a chance to take an active role in a variety of activities, while developing important life skills and a sense of community responsibility. Join us as we work together to build a brighter future through leadership, teamwork, and service.

The mission of the Davenport Police Department's Explorer Program is clear: to educate and engage our youth in the intricacies of police operations and spark their interest in different law enforcement roles. Through active participation, Explorers gain a firsthand understanding of the multifaceted nature of police service. Not only do they acquire practical knowledge of police work, but they also get to apply it within our community. The Explorer Program offers a wealth of ongoing opportunities and experiences that enrich not only the Explorer but also our Police Department, the City of Davenport, and its residents.

Be at least 14 years of age and no older than 20 years of age.
Show an interest in a career in law enforcement.
Be of good moral character.
Regularly attend school and maintain a “C” average.
Regularly attend scheduled Explorer meetings and training sessions.
Be willing to assist the Davenport Police Department and the City of Davenport when called upon to do so. (Examples: Traffic detail, crowd control, parade detail, etc.)
No previous convictions of felony or serious misdemeanor criminal activity other than minor traffic offenses.

Hands-On Learning: Experience firsthand the inner workings of law enforcement through interactive training and activities.
Community Engagement: Take part in initiatives that directly impact and benefit the local community.
Leadership Development: Hone leadership skills by taking on responsibilities within the program and fostering a sense of responsibility.
Practical Skills: Gain valuable knowledge and skills applicable to various aspects of police work, preparing you for future endeavors.
Networking Opportunities: Build connections with department personnel and fellow Explorers, creating a supportive network within law enforcement.
Personal Growth: Challenge yourself, build confidence, and develop a sense of pride in serving your community.
Resume Enhancement: Stand out to future employers or academic institutions by showcasing your involvement in a respected law enforcement program.
Service to Others: Make a positive difference in the lives of others by actively contributing to the safety and well-being of your community.

Proud Community Representation: Represent the Davenport Police Department with honor and integrity, embodying the values of service and dedication.

Meetings are 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Davenport Police Department.
