Construction on #Davenport's Kaiserslautern Square (K-Square) renovation project is underway. Preparatory work, including site demolition and subsurface infrastructure installation, will continue as weather allows over the winter to get a head start on the summer 2021 completion date.
Once completed, park renovations will include new signage and flags commemorating Davenport's long-lived sister city relationship with Kaiserslautern, Germany. Other elements include an interactive fog feature with a programmable LED light display, a performance stage area, and a series of ADA accessible sub plazas with accent lighting to make the space an active nighttime destination. Upgraded landscaping will soften the urban environment and provide a summer oasis in Downtown Davenport.
The project was made possible with City of Davenport Capital Improvements Program (CIP) funds, grants from The Bechtel Trusts, the Regional Development Authority (RDA), and the Scott County Regional Authority (SCRA), and financial support and partnership with the Downtown Davenport Partnership and Duck City Bistro.
