Heads up. The first of several projects to modernize and position the city for growth in the Division St, 76th St, Hillandale, Research Pkwy, and Northwest Blvd corridor starts on September 20.
First up this fall, the Iowa DOT will close the Division St Bridge over I-80 for bridge repairs. The project is expected to be complete by Friday, October 1. The repairs come in advance of the DOT’s bridge deck replacement project in 2022.
Work in the area in 2022 will not be limited to the bridge, however. Deck replacement will be scheduled in coordination with a City RISE grant project to reconstruct and widen Division St and developer improvements along Division St with connections to Research Parkway.
Work under the RISE grant will widen Division from the bridge to past the soccer field, extend the right turn lane at 76th and Division, install a signal at 76th St and Northwest Blvd, install a signal and a left turn lane at Hillandale and Research Parkway, and optimize the intersection at Hillandale and Northwest Blvd. Division St connectivity to Research Parkway will be installed by the Amazon development.
