What to know - January 20 Council Cycle

January 19, 2021 – City Council will consider declaring that Gaines Street south of the Canadian Pacific tracks and fronting Modern Woodmen Park also be known as “Royals Way” in honor of the local baseball team’s recent affiliation with the Kansas City Royals. The Royals made the announcement in early December that they were inviting four communities to become Kansas City affiliates, one of those being the Quad Cities.
 
The Elm Street Bridge Replacement will be one step closer to construction beginning when City Council considers awarding the contract to Brandt Construction Company of Milan, Illinois, one of two bids received by the Iowa Department of Transportation in mid-December. Construction could begin as early as the spring of 2021 pending Council approval.
 
With Council approval, the date of sale for General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Series 2021A, will be set for February 10, 2021. Proceeds of these refunding bonds will be used to pay costs in connection with refunding the outstanding balance of the General Obligation Corporate and Refunding Bonds, Series 2013A.
 
Pursuant to Executive Order 2020-22 issued by Mayor Matson on December 30, 2020, attendance by the general public at any City of Davenport public meeting within its facilities shall be limited to 10 persons, and masks are required to be worn in all City facilities.
