How to Reduce Flood Risk & Protect Your Investment Virtual Education Series

The City of Davenport is hosting several engaging virtual learning opportunities for property owners in the floodplain from March 9, 2021, through Thursday, April 1, 2021.  The “Be Prepared Davenport | How to Reduce Risk & Protect Your Investment” series will provide two learning opportunities covering three essential topics: reading and understanding Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM), what low entry point elevations are and recently available data, and learning about why flood insurance is important and ways to lower risk and premiums.

The sessions will be virtual, lasting approximately 30 to 45 minutes in length, depending on the number of questions.

The sessions' goal is to provide access to tools and resources that can make what may seem like a daunting task to understand flood risk easier.

Session topics include:

  • Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) | How to Read Them | What's New
  • Low Entry Point Elevation | Where Does this Data Come From | What Does this Mean?
  • Flood Insurance | Why It is Important | Lowering Premiums & How City Participation in CRS Program Keeps Rates Down

All sessions are being recorded. Recorded sessions will be available for later viewing.
