Explorer Program - Police

The Davenport Police Department Explorer Program is designed to inspire and empower youth through hands-on leadership opportunities. Led by our committed personnel, the program offers participants a chance to take an active role in a variety of activities, while developing important life skills and a sense of community responsibility. Join us as we work together to build a brighter future through leadership, teamwork, and service!

WHAT IS THE EXPLORER PROGRAM?

The mission of the Davenport Police Department's Explorer Program is clear: to educate and engage our youth in the intricacies of police operations and spark their interest in different law enforcement roles. Through active participation, Explorers gain a firsthand understanding of the multifaceted nature of police service. Not only do they acquire practical knowledge of police work, but they also get to apply it within our community. The Explorer Program offers a wealth of ongoing opportunities and experiences that enrich not only the Explorer but also our Police Department, the City of Davenport, and its residents.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Be at least 14 years of age and no older than 20 years of age.
Show an interest in a career in law enforcement.
Be of good moral character.
Regularly attend school and maintain a “C” average.
Regular attend scheduled Explorer meetings and training sessions.
Be willing to assist the Davenport Police Department and the City of Davenport when called upon to do so. (Examples: Traffic detail, crowd control, parade detail, etc.)
No previous convictions of felony or serious misdemeanor criminal activity other than minor traffic offenses.
