Individuals may request and obtain public information including accident reports, police reports, background checks, and crime statistics.

The Davenport Police Department follows the guidelines set forth in Chapters 22 and 692 of the Iowa State code, more commonly known as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).  Copies of public information will be provided as allowed by state law.

ACCIDENT REPORTING IN THE CITY OF DAVENPORT

Call 9-1-1 if an accident occurs resulting any of the following:
• Death or personal injury
• Inoperable vehicle blocking traffic
• Damage to other property such as structures or utility equipment

Drivers of motor vehicles involved in crashes with property damage only to involved vehicles should:
• Remove vehicles from roadway to a safe location
• Away from the roadway, exchange information with drivers
• Report accident to insurance company, if available.
• File a report with the Iowa Department of Transportation within 72 hours when the total apparent property damage is $1,500 or more. The report can be located at  https://iowadot.gov/mvd/driverslicense/accidents.
• When total apparent property damage is less than $1500, the State of Iowa does not require an accident report to be filed by drivers.

A driver or insurance company may obtain a copy of Davenport Police accident report 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year by requesting a copy of an accident report online.

Individuals filing a report can submit their own photographs and digital evidence into the department’s Axon Citizen Evidence systems.

The Axon Citizen Evidence is a digital evidence submission method that allows community member and business owners/mangers to submit digital evidence without having to save the evidence to a flash drive or disc for collection.

To request an email invite to submit evidence, individuals should send an email to [email protected]. Email requests should include the report number, individual's name, and/or the name of the business. The link to submit evidence is only available for three (3) days.
