Request Public Records

Individuals may request and obtain public information including accident reports, police reports, background checks, and crime statistics.

The Davenport Police Department follows the guidelines set forth in Chapters 22 and 692 of the Iowa State code, more commonly known as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).  Copies of public information will be provided as allowed by state law.

Request Public Records

Fee Structure:

1. Case/Incident Report/Arrest Affidavit $15.00 per report
 2. On-Line Crash Reports  $15.00 per crash available online from buy-crash via Lexis Nexis
 3. Calls for Service  $10.00 per address
 4. Statistics  $48.00 per hour (hours rounded to nearest quarter hour)
 5. Local Background Check  $10.00 per person
 6. Photographs  $10.00
 7. Audio/Video  $48.00 per hour (hours rounded to nearest quarter hour)



Accident Reporting

ACCIDENT REPORTING IN THE CITY OF DAVENPORT

Call 9-1-1 if an accident occurs resulting any of the following:
Death or personal injury
Inoperable vehicle blocking traffic
Damage to other property such as structures or utility equipment

Drivers of motor vehicles involved in crashes with property damage only to involved vehicles should:
Remove vehicles from roadway to a safe location
Away from the roadway, exchange information with drivers
Report accident to insurance company, if available.
File a report with the Iowa Department of Transportation within 72 hours when the total apparent property damage is $1,500 or more. The report can be located at  https://iowadot.gov/mvd/driverslicense/accidents.
When total apparent property damage is less than $1500, the State of Iowa does not require an accident report to be filed by drivers.

OBTAIN COPY OF  DAVENPORT PD ACCIDENT REPORT
A driver or insurance company may obtain a copy of Davenport Police accident report 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year by requesting a copy of an accident report online.

File a Non-Emergency Police Report

** IF THIS IS AN EMERGENCY PLEASE CALL 911 **
The Non-Emergency online police report system allows you to submit a report to the Davenport Police Department immediately and print a copy of the submitted report for free. Individuals filing a report can submit their own photographs and digital evidence into the department’s online reporting.

Please confirm the following to find out if online citizen police report filing is right for you:

  1. This is not an Emergency?
  2. This incident occurred within the Davenport Police Department City limits?
  3. This did not occur on a State Freeway?
  4. This is not an accident report? (For information on accident reporting, refer to the section above entitled Accident Reporting.)

If you answered yes to all of the above questions, you are ready to file your report online.


PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BEGINNING:
  • All cases filed using the Davenport Police Department Non-Emergency Reporting System will be reviewed.
  • Upon review, if further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted.
  • Filing a false police report is a crime.

Submit Digital Evidence

Individuals filing a report can submit their own photographs and digital evidence into the department’s Axon Citizen Evidence systems.

The Axon Citizen Evidence is a digital evidence submission method that allows community member and business owners/mangers to submit digital evidence without having to save the evidence to a flash drive or disc for collection.

To request an email invite to submit evidence, individuals should send an email to 
[email protected]. Email requests should include the report number, individual's name, and/or the name of the business. The link to submit evidence is only available for three (3) days.

Vehicle/Property Release Requests

Requirements for obtaining a vehicle release include:

 1.    Person requesting the release must be the registered owner.
 2.    Must have a valid drivers license.
 3.    Must have current proof of insurance.
4.    Must have valid/current registration.

Fingerprinting Information
For information about getting fingerprinted, click here or contact the Scott County Sheriff's Office Jail Facility at 563-326-8625. An appointment is required.

The Davenport Police Department Front Desk & Records Bureau provide public service, police reports, background information, and crime statistics to the general public, media, and police personnel, internally and nationwide.  Staffed by nine full-time civilian Police Services Generalists, one full-time Lead Police Services Generalist and a Records Supervisor, the Bureau maintains all records generated by the Department.  The Bureau processes and stores over 21,000 reports per year.

The Front Desk, Records Bureau, and Lobby are open to the public from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday and are closed on weekends and holidays.
